The mission for the Lilac City Legends basketball games has always been community-derived. The effort to inspire and entertain is a goal for the team to connect with its community by bringing a positive experience the entire family can be a part of.
The team’s “Legend of the Week” recognizes members for their roles as community leaders and active volunteers in professional service to the broader community engagement. This leadership may be demonstrated in various ways, through both formal and informal roles, including appointed, elected, or volunteer positions within the Spokane community. The Legend of the Week continues To Honor, Encourage, Inspire and Create more LEGENDS Within Our Community.
The Legends basketball team president, Michael Bethely, states, “We want to honor, encourage, inspire, and create legends within our community,” said Bethely, a Hoopfest 2017 Toyota Shootoff winner himself who currently lives in Spokane, WA. “We are dedicated to serving the Spokane community through an engaging, entertaining, and enhancing basketball experience…plus, we want to highlight the value of community and show how it is so much bigger than basketball.”
